Vernon K. Gartzke

Vernon was born December 21, 1912, at Verona Township, MN, the son of Ervin and Emma (King) Gartzke.Vernon grew up on a farm and went to the Gartzke school district #137. Following his school years, he stayed on the farm and worked with his father. After his father''s death in 1966 he, and his sister Frances, bought the farm and continued to farm it until his retirement in 1977. They continued to live on the farm while renting the land until their move to Blue Earth in 1990. Vernon was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Blue Earth. Vernon had been an resident of Friendship Lane and later St. Luke?s Lutheran Care Center for the last 5 years.He is survived by his, sister, Opal Gartzke of Blue Earth, sister, Harriet Ehrich of Blue Earth and several nieces and nephews. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, sister-Frances Gartzke and brothers: Harold, Floyd & Roland Gartzke.
