Charles Johnson

Charles was born November 11, 1934, at Pilot Grove, MN, the son of J. Harold and Margaret R. (Doyle) Johnson.He was a graduate of Elmore High School in 1952. After graduation he worked at the Elmore Farmers Elevator. In January 1957 he joined the Army and spent time in the States and Germany. He returned to the Farmers Elevator in 1959 and worked there for seven years. He moved to Minneapolis and was employed by Control Data from 1966 to 1968. On October 19, 1968 he was married to Dorothy E. Bartel at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Guckeen, MN. The couple made their home in Elmore, where Charles was employed by the First National Bank. He worked with insurance, loans, income tax and clerked many auctions. Charles enjoyed bowling and the game of golf. He and his wife enjoyed attending flea markets and antique auctions. He was active in the Elmore B & P Club, Lions International, served on the Elmore Historical Society, the Elmore Housing Board and enjoyed being part of Interfaith Caregivers. Chuck was a true gentleman, who loved his family, and took great pride in seeing his children grow into adults. He truly enjoyed the quality of life that a small town provided. His contagious smile and genuine interest in people will be remembered by those who knew him. He was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, and it was his faith that helped him deal with life''s challenges. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Johnson of Elmore, his daughter, Sarah (& husband David) Schiltz of Fairmont, his son, Thomas Johnson of Minneapolis, his sister, Patricia (& husband Charles) Davis of Elk River, his sister, Mary Ellen (& husband Richard) Loose of Denver, his sister, Catherine (& husband William) Freymuller of Omaha 4 nieces, 4 nephews and 2 grandnieces.He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Barbara.
