He was born April 30, 1915, on a farm near Guckeen the son of Ralph & Emma(Oskerson)Oothoudt.Don Oothoudt passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, October 15, at the Blue Earth United Hospital. Don graduated from Huntley High School in 1933 and then completed the two year Ag Achool Program at the University of Minnesota. His life''s work was farming and he appreciated watching the crops, the land, and the harvest.He was married on November 11, 1940 to Evelyn Quade of Jeffers, Minnesota. His relationship with his lifetime sweetheart was central to his life for 54 years until her death. Square dancing and playing cards and church activities were their shared activities.He enjoyed sports, especially the Twins and the Vikings. Sports he participated in were baseball, basketball, bowling and horseshoe until his knees gave him problems. He is survived by his Daughter: Joy (& husband John) DeHarpporte, St. Paul, Daughter: Mary (& Phil) Wendorf, Apple Valley, 4 Grandchildren , 6 Great Grandchildren , Sister: Beverly( & Bill) Manske, Algona, IA, . Numerous Nieces & Nephews. Don was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, daughter, Muriel Jean Grenz, and two sisters. Preferred memorials to the First United Methodist Church in Blue Earth.
