He was born March 15th, 1929 on the family farm at Sherburn, MN to Lydia Petersen Kuiken and Bert Kuiken. He started at halfback for Fairmont and graduated with the class of 1947. He married Margaret Schwarz at St. John?s Lutheran, Minnesota Lakes, MN on June 10th, 1951. The couple operated a dairy with his parents until he was drafted to serve with the US Army in Japan. On his return he resumed dairying and operated the dairy and farmed until retirement. He especially enjoyed the dairy cows, sports, gardening, and walking the farm. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Hazel Emma and two children Ruth Margaret and Richard Paul and a brother-in-law, Symon Vander Ploeg. He is survived by his wife Margaret, his son John, his daughter Mary (& Eric) Stormo, his sister Helen Vander Ploeg, Sister-in-law Angeline (& Robert) Meyer and nieces and nephews. Memorials are directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Blue Earth.
