Isabella was born May 29, 1916, at Winnebago, the daughter of Arthur and Jennie (Bell) Newcombe.She was raised and educated in Winnebago where she was a 1934 graduate of Winnebago High School. She attended Mankato State Teachers College where she earned her teaching certificate. She taught in Madelia and several country schools before her marriage to Clare K. Speed on April 16, 1939 in rural Blue Earth. Isabella had taught at the Granada Elementary Schools for many years, the last 20 of them teaching 4th grade. She was a long time member of the Granada United Methodist Church before moving to Blue Earth and becoming a member of First United Methodist Church.Isabella is survived by her daughter, Karen (& David) Gray of Albert Lea, her Daughter, Sharon Bahr of Valley Springs, SD, her daughter, Randee Lynn (& John) Kemna of Sioux Falls, SD, six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1993, 3 brothers, a son-in-law and 1 grandson.Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to the Arthritis Research Foundation.
