Warren L. Roe

September 22, 1917 — December 16, 2006

He was born September 22, 1917, at Webber, Kansas, the son of Abner Ira (Abbie) and Bertha (Reed) Roe. Warren L. Roe was raised in Kansas and educated in Superior, NE. Upon graduation from the Superior High School in 1936, he attended normal training to become a teacher. He taught in a one-room country school for a few years before entering the service. Warren served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during WW II from 1941 until early in 1944. He was married to Verna Kathryn Grummert on November 5, 1944 at Salem Lutheran Church in Superior, Nebraska. The couple farmed and raised purebred Hampshire and Shropshire breeding sheep in the Superior NE area for many years until retiring in the late 1970''s. They moved to Blue Earth, MN in 1998. Warren served on the Superior School Board, 15 years on the Nuckolls County Soil Conservation Board, and as a 4-H club and project leader. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, American Legion Post # 103 in Superior, NE, a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, and served on the Nebraska Sheep Breeders Board. Warren and his sons exhibited sheep at the Nebraska State Ram Sale, Nebraska State Fair, Aksarben, and the National Western Stock Show. Warren was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan and looked forward to visits from his grand children while at St. Luke''s. Warren is survived by his sons, Kirk & wife Jill Roe of Blue Earth, and Lyle & wife Kay Roe of Owen, WI. One sister, June (Roe) & husband Bob Sheaffer of Nampa, Idaho and his six grandchildren: Lenita (Roe) & husband Kory Kluge of Dorchester, WI, Jennifer Roe of Kansas City, Kansas, Christopher Roe of Pittsburgh, Kansas, Jonathan, Elizabeth and Alexandra Roe of Blue Earth, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Verna in 2003, 4 brothers, and 3 sisters.
