Mable was born February 2, 1913, at Winnebago, MN the daughter of Charles J. and Anna M. (Bill) Grant.She was raised and educated in Winnebago where she graduated from Winnebago High School in 1931.She was married to Glenn Root on November 30, 1937 in Mason City, Iowa. Mable was a homemaker and was an over 50 year member of the First United Methodist Church in Blue Earth, where she was active as a past president of the United Methodist Women''s Society and was one of the the first female Trustees. She was a charter member of the Better Blossoms Garden Club and recieved an award of Merit from the Minnesota State Horticultural Society in 1987 . She was also active with the American Field Service- hosting a student, Sonia Anyfantaki Lang, from Greece during the 1959-1960 school year, and was a member of the United Hospital Auxiliary. Mable is survived by her daughter, Nancy (& Robert) Sandberg of Wilmington, Delaware, two grandchildren, Kurt Sandberg of Hampstead, MD and Sarah Alexander, of Wilmington, DE, and 5 great grandchildren, Katie Sandberg, Holly Sandberg, Robert Sandberg, Riley Alexander and Mary Helen Alexander.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Glenn in 1998, daughter- Mary Helen in 1958, a grandson- Mark Sandberg, brothers- Walter and Harry Grant, sisters- Anna Hennes, Mildred Gottschalk & Florence Koepsell, an infant brother and an infant sister.Memorial donations will be directed to St. Luke''s Lutheran Care Center or First United Methodist Church.
