Marie Wilson

March 13, 1913 — January 10, 2005

Marie Elizabeth (Miller) Wilson was born March 13, 1913 near Fonda, Ia, the 5th child of Albert and Anna (Wendt) Miller. The family moved to Omaha, NE, in 1927 where she graduated from South High School as Salutatorian. She obtained a normal training degree and taught country schools in western Nebraska where she married Tom Gilmore, a foreman of the Diamond Bar Ranch, NW of North Platte, NE. They were not married long before Tom died due to an accident. After obtaining a dietician degree from Iowa State University, Marie joined the W.A.C.''s traveling all over the U.S.A.Later, while interning at a California hospital, Marie married John Wilson (a childhood neighbor from Newell, IA area) on June 11, 1949. Together they moved to a farm NW of Blue Earth, MN where John farmed and Marie was active with gardening, garden club, judge for county fairs, and worked as a dietician at Winnebago and Blue Earth Hospitals for many years. She was also very active in the Methodist Church, and toured Scandinavian countries, Australia and China. John died April 23, 1984. Marie moved to the St. Luke?s Condos in 2000.Surviving Marie is her sister, Jean Porter of Rock Valley, IA; brother-in-law, Fred ?Tip? Tyler of Omaha, NE; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her 2 husbands; 4 brothers, Louis, Edward, Frederick, and Ira Miller; and 3 sisters, Louise Hinshaw, Genevieve Waterman, and Thelma Tyler.
