Evelyn McMurtry

February 6, 2005 Evelyn McMurtry, age 81, of Excelsior , formerly of Blue Earth died Sunday, February 6, 2005, at Excelsior Nursing Home, Excelsior. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2005, at 11:00 AM, at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth, with Rev. Michael Roys officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation time will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home, at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th Street, in Blue Earth. She was born October 3, 1923, at Blue Earth Mn.,the daughter of Charles S. & Margaret (Blayney) Johnston. On October. 3, 1942 she married Elmer"Red"McMurtry at Colorado Springs, CO.. They farmed east of Blue Earth until moving to Colorado Springs in 1960. Evelyn did babysitting, nursing care, and was involved in retail sales. In 1969 they moved to Minneapolis. She started her own placement service for people that needed assistance. Evelyn enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and was involved in Church activities. She is survived by her Daughter: Marilyn Latham, Excelsior, MN, Daughter: Margo & Delbert Webb-Vogel, Clinton, MO, Son: Bill (& wife Karen) McMurtry, Ruidoso, NM, Son: Mike McMurtry, Cumming, GA, Sister: Delores Jean (& husband Russell) Schavey, Blue Earth, MN, Brother: Ambrose Johnston, Cambridge, MN, 8 Grandchildren: 7 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elmer"Red" McMurtry, two sisters.
