Lenora Underdahl

February 11, 1909 — February 7, 2005

Lenora Amanda Sebby Underdahl was born on February 11, 1909, at Eagle Grove, Iowa. She was baptized on March 2, 1909. She was the sixth of nine children born to Lewis and Ane (Egland) Sebby. The family moved to the Pilot Grove area when Lenora was a few weeks old. She was confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church, Pilot Grove Township on November 26, 1922. She graduated from East Chain High School in 1927. She was the last surviving member of her graduating class. The Sebby family moved to a farm near Frost after she finished school, and she worked at the Frost Hotel and the grocery store. She married Ervin Underdahl on January 10, 1934, at the Bethany Parsonage. They were married for almost 65 years. Ervin passed away in December of 1998.Lenora and Ervin lived on the Underdahl family farm at Frost. Lenora was a homemaker and active in the community and church. She served as a Sunday School Teacher, officer of Ladies Aid, sang in the choir, and enjoyed working with her Circle group in the activities of the church including making quilt tops. She enjoyed visiting and hosting her birthday clubs. She loved to be outdoors working with her flower gardens and making flower arrangements for the house. She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and could identify many birds by their songs. She would whistle and sing while she worked. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, baking, making donuts on Saturday morning and making apple butter and the best apple pies. Lenora was very creative, making her own patterns for clothing for her daughters, granddaughters and for her old and new dolls. She also loved to draw pictures, especially of horses. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, drawing pictures for them, and reading stories to them, even in the the dark. The Underdahl''s purchased a lake home near Alexandria, MN. in 1967, where they enjoyed spending time with family and friends. They also enjoyed traveling and vacationing in Arizona during the winter.She is survived by three daughters, Ruth Furland and her husband Russell, of Albert Lea, Grace Iverson and her husband John, of White Bear Lake, MN. and Alice Bromeland and her husband Duane of Frost, MN. Nine grandchildren, Robert and his wife Sue Furland, Laura and her husband Van Munson, Sarah Furland Vowels, Annie and her husband Doug Olson, all of Albert Lea, Mark Iverson and Nicholas Iverson of White Bear Lake, Amanda and her husband Dave Gilman of Lake Crystal, Erin Bromeland of Frost, MN. and Phil Bromeland of Eden Prairie, MN. Nine great-grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, and Kelsey Munson, Thomas and Timothy Furland, Benjamin, Clara, and Ean Gilman and Jayden Bromeland-Evans: two sisters, Virginia Olsen of Frost, and Evelyn Irey of Davenport, Ia. many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ervin in 1998, one grandchild, Steven John Iverson, three brothers, Emil, Archie and Edward, three sisters, Alma Ryg, Agnes Rosenau and Myrtle Martin; five brother-in laws, Henry Ryg, Henry Rosenau, Joseph Martin, Don Irey and Art Olsen; her husband''s brothers, sisters and nephews.
