James Fredrick Volz was born September 7, 1924 in Argo Faye, Illinois, the son of John and Anna Louise (Heinrich) Volz. The family moved to Minnesota in 1936. He attended Frost Public High School and graduated in 1943.On September 25, 1945, he married Beulah "Bee" M. Walton of Elmore at the United Methodist Church. They farmed and raised Charolais cattle in the Elmore area for many years. Jim was very active in many organizations. He served on different church committees and served on the township board. He was very active with the MinnesotaCharolais Assn., such as Director of Minnesota Beef Cattle Improvement Assn., President of the Minnesota Charolais Assn., 4-H Beef Project Leader and 4-H Beef Superintendent. Jim showed cattle with his son''s for many years and won many awards such as Minnesota Purebred Cattleman of the Year in 1976. In 1981, the 6th National Junior Hiefer Show was dedicated in his honor for outstanding contributions to the Junior Assn.In 1986, Jim and Beulah moved to California and started working on a Sod Farm for their nephew, Wayman Walton. In 1992 they decided to retire and moved back to Minnesota to be closer to their family.James is survived by his wife Beulah "Bee" Volz of Elmore: two sons, John Volz and wife Rita: Jim Volz and wife Kim all of Elmore; 4 grandchildren, Dusty, Hannah, Travis and Mike; sister, Ruth Wimsett of Elmore, brother, Robert Volz of Blue Earth, and many other beloved family members and friends.James was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Violet Wilson and a daughter Judy Ann Volz.
