Agnes Higgins

Agnes was born July 29, 1905, at Easton, Mn. the daughter of Henry & Christina (Ascheman) Hefner.She was raised and educated in Easton where she attended Easton High School and later took her normal training in Mankato. She taught in rural schools in the Easton area for 8 years before her marriage to Francis T. Higgins on January 28, 1939 in Easton. The couple lived in Blue Earth for 2 years and other communities, including Easton, before settling in Mapleton for many years. Agnes was a homemaker and a lifetime member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Catholic Church. Agnes loved to crochet, play cribbage and do word searches. She moved to Friendship Lane in Blue Earth at the age of 92, and had lived at St. Luke''s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth for the past 2 years.She is survived by her son, Timothy (& wife Jo Ann) Higgins of Prattsburg, NY, daughter, Mary Alice Higgins (& husband Dana Eriksson) of Stillwater, daughter, Lee Ann (& husband Carl) Bisson of Savage, daughter, Margaret Mary (& husband Frank) Murphy of Altura, sister, La Vena Cole of Easton, 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Francis in 1984, twin sister- Anne McCarrick and great grandson, Sean Shortsleeve.
