He was born June 9, 1916, at Tiffin, Missouri, the son of Frank M. and Mary E. (Pengilly) Ripley.He was raised in Tiffin, Missouri and atteneded schools in Elmore, Huntley and Amboy before graduating from Winnebago High School. He attended University Farm School in St. Paul and later Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. He was married to Joyce E. More on February 8, 1942 on the More family farm in Pilot Grove Township, Minnesota. The couple lived in Winnebago until moving to Elmore in 1944, where they farmed. Richard dairy farmed until the late 1960''s just west of Elmore. He continued farming until his retirement in 1980. Since the late sixties, Richard and Joyce traveled to Texas in the winter and to Thistledew Campground near International Falls, MN in the summer. Richard loved mowing his lawn, fishing and woodworking projects- many of which were hexagram games that found homes all over the world. Richard was a member of the Elmore United Methodist Church, Farm Bureau and was a 4-H leader.Richard is survived by his wife, Joyce Ripley of Winnebago son, Steven (& wife Janice) Ripley of Blue Earth, son, Roger (& wife Gail) Ripley of Briggsville, Wisconsin, daughter, Darla (& husband Roger) Gilbertson of Minnetonkason, Verlyn (& wife Brenda) Ripley of Blue Earth, brother, James (& wife Sharon) Ripley of Carthage, Missouri, sister, Elizabeth (& husband Bob) Lawrence of Hemphill, Texas, 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister- Alice Hermann.
