Arlin Helland, age 87, of Blue Earth, formerly of rural Guckeen, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at United Hospital, Blue Earth. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 9, 2005, at 11:00 AM, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with Rev. Lynn Enloe & Rev. Stephen Bohling officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation time will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday, at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th Street, in Blue Earth, and one hour prior to services at the church. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.com He was born March 8, 1918, at Guckeen, MN, the son of Alfred and Cora (Anderson) Helland. He was raised and educated in the Guckeen area where he attended rural Guckeen and Pilot Grove Township schools. He was married to Wanda Larsen on January 3, 1940 at the Trinity Lutheran Church parsonage in Blue Earth. The couple farmed for over 40 years near Guckeen before Arlin retired in 1980. Over the years Arlin enjoyed bowling, horeshoes and card playing with family & friends. The couple also enjoyed wintering in Arizona and later Texas for many years, until 2001. Arlin & Wanda moved into Blue Earth in 1990. Arlin later enjoyed time spent and the Adult Day Services at St. Luke''s and had been a resident there for the past four months. Arlin is survived by his wife: Wanda Helland, Blue Earth, daughter: Deanne (& husband Leslie) Gill, Rochester, daughter: Ronna (& husband Terry) Houdek, Albany, Ogon, daughter: LaDean (& husband David) Roxberg, Belview, brother: Morton (& wife Carleen) Helland, Austin, brother: Leo Helland, Guckeen, brother: Allan (& wife Virginia) Helland, Ames, Iowa, sister: Twila (& husband George) Sugar Creek Missouri,6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Evelyn Smith and brother, Orvis Helland.
