LeRoy Sanders

Leroy (Corky) Sanders, age 75 of Blue Earth, passed away Sunday evening, June 19, 2005 near his life-long home while riding his all-terrain vehicle.LeRoy was born September. 7, 1929 to Frank and Marie (Gudal) Sanders. He grew up in Prescott township, Faribault Co. As a young man he was active in Luther League at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Faribault County Rural Youth and loved to rollerskate. On June 19, 1955 LeRoy married Ellen Olson of Granada at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont, MN. They resided on the family farm their entire marriage. The Sanders celebrated their 50th anniversary surrounded by their family the day of his death. LeRoy started farming at a young age and continued until retirement in 1995. Raising livestock was a special enjoyment along with his crop farming. He was very interested in soil conservation practices to preserve the land for future generations. He derived much pleasure and comfort from the river and woods. He enjoyed attending his daughters? school and musical events and was very proud of their accomplishments. He and Ellen enjoyed square dancing, RVing and spending time in Arizona each winter. Four-wheeling, bicycling and canoeing gave him great enjoyment in his later years. LeRoy was a life-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council and Faribault Co. Farm Bureau. LeRoy had a gentle and generous spirit. His actions reflected his love for his family and community. He was always willing to lend a hand to haul, fix, or help. His interest in people kept his conversations lively and his curiosity in machines kept his hands busy and mind active.Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Vickie and her husband Steve Dunn of Mankato, and Nadine Sanders of Chehalis, Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marie, and his grandparents.
