She was born February 5, 1915, at Grygla, Minnesota, the daughter of Ole and Clara (Hoyum) Quam.She was raised and educated in the Grygla and Goodrich, MN areas in Pennington County and as a teenager came to work in the Blue Earth area. She was later married to Willard K. Krosch on February 26, 1936 and the couple began farming west of Blue Earth. In 1942 they established their family farm 5 miles south of Guckeen that continues today. Lyla was involved in all aspects of the farm and was also a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Blue Earth where she was involved with church circle and taught Sunday School for many years. She was also active in a neighborhood extension project, helped found the Guckeen Happy H''ers 4H Club, was active on the Day Activity Center Board and enjoyed quilting, gardening and antiquing. Lyla is survived by her son, Walter Krosch of Blue Earth, daughter, Charlotte Matti of Rochester, granddaughter, Kirsten (Mrs. James) Turba of Firestone, Colorado, brother, Louis Quam of Goodrich, and sister, Myrtle Olson of Thief River Falls.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 2002 and 6 brothers.
