Dawn Marie Milbrandt entered into eternal rest on October 5, 2005 at the age of 53 after a long battle with cancer. Memorial donations may be directed to Hope Lodge and/or PALS. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.comDawn was born to Wesley and Ruth (Ankeny) Milbrandt on August 7, 1952. She graduated from Elmore Public High School, a member of the Class of 1970. She later obtained a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Mankato State University.Dawn''s passion was enriching the lives of children. She was instrumental in founding Tender Years Preschool and served as it''s Director and Teacher for 18 years. Dawn provided childcare to numerous children, caring for each as if they were her own. She shared her faith by means of Sunday School and Release Time teaching and later helped to implement the PALS program in Elmore.Dawn was dedicated to farming with her brothers and was recognized as part of the Farm Family of the Year in 2002. She was influential in agricultural promotion providing the farm experience to as many children as she could reach.Dawn was a talented bread maker and gardener and shared the fruits of her labor with countless people. She was particularly well known for her carmel rolls. Dawn will be missed by all and remembered for her servanthood, faith in God, and love of children. Blessed by her memory.Dawn is survived by her Mother: Ruth Milbrandt of Blue Earth, MN, seven brothers and sisters; Irvin and wife, Marcia, of Elmore, MN, Douglas of Elmore, MN, Ruth Ann Stalder and husband, John, of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Bruce and wife, Pam, of Storm Lake, IA, Ross and wife, Tammy, of Elmore, MN, Rose Berry and husband, John, of Tomah, WI, foster sister Olive Richardson of Swea City, IA, 17 nieces and nephews, 14 great nieces and nephews, several foster nieces and nephews, and many very special friends. Dawn was preceded in death by her grandparents and by her father, Wesley, in 1977.
