Madeline Schwartz

Madeline was born April 28, 1911, at Emerald Township, MN, the daughter of Leo R. and Ottilie (Ewendt) Eckhardt.She was born & raised on the family farm in Emerald Township, where she lived all her adult life. She was baptized on May 25, 1911 and later confirmed on June 14, 1925, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Emerald Township. She helped her family farm after her schooling and was married to George E. Schwartz on June 30, 1946 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Emerald Township. The couple farmed Madeline''s family farm for many years. She eventually moved into Blue Earth in 1994 and was a resident at Nicollet Place and most recently at Parker Oaks in Winnebago. Madeline was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. Her family & her church were very important to her and she also enjoyed needlework & quilting, cooking, and raising flowers and vegetables in her gardens.Madeline is survived by her daughter, Wanda (& husband Gene) Schnabel of Houston, Texas, daughter, Vanette Schwartz of Normal, Illinois, grandchildren, Nathan (& Sarah) Schnabel and Kristin Schnabel and several nieces & nephews: Leroy (& Cherrye) Tagatz, Joyce (Lloyd) Gaylord, Lois (Dean) Hammond, LouAnn (Bill) Ogilvie, Paul Eckhardt, Marcella Eckhardt and Phyllis Lettau.She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987, sister- Esther Tagatz and brothers- Elmer & Edgar Eckhardt.
