Elmer Wadsworth Murray, age 101, of Blue Earth, died Sunday, January 11, 2004, at St. Lukes Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth. Elmer was born October 27, 1902, at Lee County, Illinois, near Dixon, the son of Frank & Winifred (Wadsworth) Murray.The family moved to Emerald Township, Faribault County in 1913. He attended country school through the 8th grade and then attended Parker College in Winnebago during the winter months for two years. Elmer was married to Corene Reko on August 28, 1931 at the Rice Lake Evangelical Church parsonage, rural Wells. Elmer farmed in Emerald Township, Faribault County, all his life and retired to Blue Earth in 1978. He loved the farm, raising horses & livestock and his grandchildren. Corene died in 1997, and in 1998 he moved to Parker Oaks and later that year he moved to St. Luke''s Lutheran Care Center. Elmer was an active member of Immanuel United Methodist Chuch, where he served in several capacities including as church treasurer, sunday school secretary-treasurer and church usher. His family was active in 4H where Elmer was a 4H leader and superintendent of sheep at the Faribault Co. Fair for several years. Elmer also received the Honorary Chapter Farmer Award from the Blue Earth Future Farmers of America in 1966.He is survived by his son, Daryl (& wife Judy) Murray of Blue Earth, son, David (& wife Sandra) Murray of Blue Earth, grandchildren: Tim Murray Spririt Lake, Iowa and special friend Jodi Rieck of Fargo, North Dakota, Lisa (& husband Jared) Olivier of Brandon, South Dakota, Susan (& husand Collin) Salisbury of Blue Earth, Sarah Murray of Blue Earth, Rachel Murray of St. Paul, Daniel Murray of Blue Earth, great grandson Brody Olivier of Brandon, South Dakota, Brother: Omer Murray of Blue Earth, Brothers-in-law: Quintin Strack of Blue Earth & Howard Reko of Mesa, Arizona, sister-in-law, Helen Reko of Blue Earth and several nieces & nephews.Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister- Mabel Robinson & brother-Lawrence Murray.
