He was born November 20, 1944, in Blue Earth, the son of Arthur A. and Luella E. (Kuchenbecker) Boettcher.He was raised and educated in Blue Earth where he was a 1962 graduate of Blue Earth High School. He worked at Juba''s SuperValu during and after high school for 27 years, many of those years as produce manager. He had been a lineworker for Telex Co. for the past 11 years. He lived on his family farm near Blue Earth all his life until moving to Elmore in 2001. He was a lifetime member of St. John''s Lutheran Church near Elmore and enjoyed fishing with his family, coin collecting, woodworking, bird watching and playing with & teaching his many nieces & nephews how to hunt & fish.Melvin is survived by his mother, Luella Boettcher of Blue Earth, brother, Marvin (wife Carol) Boettcher of Elmore, sister, Marilyn (& husband Bernard) Sweet of Mankato, brother, Mervil (& wife Virginia) Boettcher of Alden, sister, Margaret "Maggie" (& husband Kenneth) Nagel of Delavan, nieces & nephews: Dennis Boettcher, Todd (& wife Cassandra) Boettcher, David Boettcher, Greg (& wife Michelle) Boettcher, Kelly Boettcher, Tammy Sweet (& husband Allan Hruby), Kristine (& husband Ryan) Fisher, Chuck Hanson, Candy (& husband Jeff) Zabel, Tanya Nagel, Mindy Nagel and several great niece & nephews.He was preceded in death by his father- Arthur in 1993.Melvin, and his generous heart, will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
