Virgil Lawrence

July 10, 1916 — May 28, 2004

Virgil was born July 10, 1916, at Corning, Iowa, the son of Dean & Carrie (Schafer) Lawrence..He was raised and educated in the Blue Earth area where he was a 1934 graduate of Blue Earth High School. He was married to Lila C. Fenske on June 26, 1937 in Blue Earth. Virgil had farmed during high school and continued farming East of Delavan from 1946 until 1985. He also drove school bus in Delavan for 28 years. He was a member of the Winnebago Chapter of the Masonic Lodge, Blue Earth Chapter of the Eastern Star and was a member of the Barber Township board, Delavan Cremary Board and Delavan Elevator board, where he had served as chairman, for many years. He was also a longtime member of Delavan United Methodist Church were he had served the churchin various capacities through the years. Virgil loved fishing, hunting, RV''ing and traveling throughout the country. He wintered in Dundee, Florida frequently and eventually moved there in 1985. He returned to Blue Earth in 2002.He is survived by his son, Bruce (& wife Kayla) Lawrence of Delavan, daughter, Kathryn (& husband Terry) Frazee of Spicer, brother, Ronald (& wife Maxine) Lawrence of Blue Earth, brother, Maynard (& wife Justine) Lawrence of Spicer, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren & 1 great great grandchild.Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, wife-Lila in 1998, brother-Delmer Lawrence, sister-in-law Sophia Lawrence and a granddaughter.
