A suggested alternate route is to take Interstate 90 to exit 128 (Co. road 254), proceding North 1/2 mile to the first gravel road heading west. Take gravel road West 2 miles to County road 109 South. Proceed 3/4 of a mile south, over the I-90 bridge, to Rene''s residence on the corner of County Road 109 and Old Hwy. 16.*A special angel courier took Irene Lucille Christianson Johnson, to her heavenly home on June 6, 2004. A celebration of her life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth on Monday, June 14, 2004 at 1:30 PM. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service. Her family will honor her with the customary visitation of her friends and relatives to be held at her home east of Blue Earth at 11116 450th Avenue between 4:00 and 7:00 PM on Sunday afternoon June 13, 2004.Irene was born on March 12, 1928 in Blue Earth, Minnesota to Anna and Otto Christianson. "Rene" graduated of Blue Earth High School and completed undergraduate and graduate studies in education at Mankato State University. She would have been married to Victor J. Johnson for 54 years on June 18, 2004. Besides her husband, she is survived by her four living children, Dr Pamela R. Aasen of Minneapolis, MN: Dana Johnson and wife Phoebe of Winona, MN; Matthew Johnson and wife Cathy of Minneapolis, MN, Jayson Johnson of Fairmont; and nine grandchildren, Elise Aasen, Gretchen, Seth and Adam Johnson, Mathias and Mercedes Johnson, Alan, Tara, And Augusta Johnson. She is also survived by brothers, Rev. C.J. Christianson, LaVern Christianson, and sisters Janice Barker, and Esther Espeland. Preceding her in were infant son, Jordan Nathan Johnson, brother Orlo Christianson and sisters Joyce Schwager and Dorothy Wilson.Rene Johnson served as an elementary educator in North St. Paul, MN; Hokah, MN; Delavan, MN (where she was elementary principal); and at Blue Earth, MN as well as providing special needs tutoring. She was the organizing director of Faribault County Day Care Center for disabled adults conducted at United Methodist Church in Blue Earth. In 1968, Rene was the regional winner and competed in the state "Mrs. Minnesota event". Rene was a gentle, but eager volunteer for the United Hands Hospice in Blue Earth. She has been a life long member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was a willing servant and leader. Donations in her honor may be given to United Hands Hospice at Blue Earth, MN.To those who knew her and loved her, she will be especially rmemebered for her love, compassion, grace, Christian faith and beautiful spirit.
