Harold D. KliendlHarold Kliendl, age 81, of Blue Earth, died Thursday, October 23, 2003, at his home at New Life Manor in Blue Earth. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 27, 2003, at 11:00 AM, at St. Lukes Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth, with Pastor Michael Roys officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth. Visitation time will be Sunday, October 26 from 4-7 PM at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Blue Earth and one hour prior to services at St. Lukes.Harold Donald Kliendl was born March 24, 1922, in Blue Earth Township the son of John B. & Sophie (Olsen) Kliendl.As a youth he attended Blue Earth Public School. Harold married Helen Clark on October 17, 1942 in Fairmont. They have one daughter, Kathleen Killion of Wells. Harold worked for several area farmers until being employed by Green Giant in 1953 where he worked the company farms at first and later as a field forman He worked with area farmers planting & harvesting peas and sweet corn. He retired from Green Giant at the age of 62 in 1984. Harold enjoyed his retirement by working in his yard with flowers & plants. He loved his morning coffee chats with friends at McDonalds. When his wife entered St. Lukes in 2000 he made two or three trips daily to visit her and they usually took afternoon drives through the country to be together. Harold loved to help out at the First Presbyterian Church in Blue Earth whenever he could. Over the years he was an avid hunter & fisherman. In the spring of 2003 Harold moved to New Life Manor to be closer to his wife and just loved it there. He is survived by his Wife, Helen Kliendl of Blue Earth, Daughter, Kathleen (& husband David) Killion of Wells, Grandaughter: Bridget (& husband Tim) Warmka of Oakdale, MN, Grandson: Daniel Killion ofBlue Earth, Grandson, Paul (& wife Tracie) Killion of Inver Grove Heights, MN, six Great-Grandchildren: Steven & Jonathan Killion, Katelyn, Joshua & Anna Warmka and Kevin Killion, Sisters: Helen Nelson of Albert Lea, Dorothy Arends of Blue Earth and Delores Hillmer of Fairmont. Also surviving are fours sisters-in-law: Lorena Clark of Blue Earth, Thelma Bromeland of Frost, Jean Rose of Winona & Phyllis Kliendl of Blue Earth. He also left his special friend, a miniature dachshund named Betsy.Harold was preceded in death by his parents, one infant sister, a brother Darwin "Dub" Kliendl, two sisters: Rosella Murtha and Elaine Classon, eight brothers-in-law and 1 sister-in-law.
