Florence Vereide, age 92, of Blue Earth, formerly of Elmore, died Monday, November 24, 2003, at St. Lukes Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 28, 2003, at 11:00 AM, at Shiloh Lutheran Church in Elmore, with Rev. Robert Roettger officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Elmore. Visitation time will be from 9:30 am until the time of the service at the church on Friday. Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Blue Earth & Elmore is handling the arrangements.Florence was born November 28, 1910, at Bricelyn, Mn. the daughter of Julius & Johanna (Silrum) Hove.She was raised and educated at rural Bricelyn where she graduated from Bricelyn High School in the mid 1920''s. She was a member of South Blue Earth Lutheran Church and had worked at various jobs during and after high school. Florence was married to Alfred "Putt" Vereide on June 8, 1940 in Elmore. In the mid 1940''s the couple started the Colonial Inn restaurant on Highway 169 in Elmore. They owned the business for many years, and Florence became well known for her wonderful pies. The couple retired in the early 1970''s. Florence became the Avon Lady in Elmore for many years following retirement. She has been a longtime, active and devoted member of Shiloh Lutheran Church in Elmore where she was a member of the ladies circle. She was always a very giving person who deeply appreciated the many people who assisted her through the years, especially the caregivers at St. Lukes'' Lutheran Care Center where she had been a resident since 1995.Florence is survived by her Son: Sherwood (& wife Marilyn) Vereide of Austin, Daughter: Audreen (& husband Leif) Ruona of Bloomington, Sister: Theone Runge of Blue Earth, Sister-in-law: Viola Hove of Blue Earth, 8 grandchildren: James, Mary Ann, Robert, Marilyn Ann, Michael, Spencer, Christine & Kelly, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her Husband Alfred, Brother- James Hove, Sisters Irene Jensvold, Evelyn Oakland & Orva Aamodt, Son- Barre Veriede and grandchild Thomas Vereide.
