BLUE EARTHDecember 5, 2003Leslie W. MinoLeslie William Mino, age 89, of Blue Earth, died Friday, December 5, 2003, at St. Lukes Lutheran Care Cente, Blue Earth. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2003, at 10:30 AM, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth, with Father John Ozbun officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 PM in Harrison Township Cemetery, Swea City, Iowa. Visitation time will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, with a prayer service at 7:30 PM, at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th Street, in Blue Earth, and one hour prior to services at the church.Leslie William Mino, son of Edward and Mable (Christophel) Mino, was born on election day, November 3, 1914, in Grant Township, Kossuth County, Iowa. He graduated from Grant Consolidated High School and farmed in Grant Township. He was inducted into the army March 1942 and served as a Military Policeman until January 1946. He returned to farming and on June 26, 1948 married Catherine Karp at the Immaculate Conception Church in Faribault, Minnesota. Leslie served as a Grant school bus driver, Grant Township assessor, ASC committeeman, Grant school board member and member of Sacred Heart Parish Council in Ledyard, Iowa. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Bancroft, Iowa Council and a 58-year member of the American Legion Post 14 of Swea City, Iowa. Due to ill health he retired from farming and the couple moved to Blue Earth in 1979 where Les has been a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church. .He is survived by his Wife, Catherine Mino of Blue Earth, seven children and spouses: Daughter, Kathleen (& husband Dale) VanVeldhuizen of Rock Rapids, Iowa, Daughter, Donna (& husband Ned) Hochberger of Rochester,Son: William (& wife Debbie) Mino of Hickory Creek, Texas, Son: Patrick (& wife Donna Jean) Mino of Marseilles, Illinois, Son, James (& wife Janice) Mino of Austin, Son, John (& wife Beth) Mino of Harris, Missouri, Son, Alan (& wife January) Mino of Crystal Lake, Illinois, fifteen grandchildren: Lisa Mino, Kelly Mino, Anne Mino, Amy VanVeldhuizen, Stephanie (& husband Justin) Oaks, Brian (& wife Amy) Mino, Michele Mino, Lindsey Mino, Heather Mino, Rebecca Mino, Jessica Mino, Katie Mino, Steven Mino, David Mino and Kyle Mino, Brother, Edwin (& wife Mary) Mino of Algona, and sisters-in-law, Verna Mino of Armstrong, Iowa and Pearl Mino of Conrad, Iowa as well as many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers- Leonard, Harold, Walter and Glen.
