BLUE EARTHDecember 11, 2003Russell PirsigRussell Pirsig, age 76, of Blue Earth, died Thursday, December 11, 2003, at his home in Blue Earth. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 15, 2003, at 11:00 AM, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with Rev. John Otte officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation time will be one hour prior to services at the church. Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, of Blue Earth & Elmore is handling the arrangements.He was born July 1, 1927, in Blue Earth Township, Faribault Co., MN, the son of Otto and Anna (Naumann) Pirsig.Russell was raised and educated in the Blue Earth area where he was a 1945 graduate of Blue Earth High School and farmed all his life. After graduating he was married to Adelyn D. Ehrich on September 10, 1951 in Blue Earth. The couple farmed 5 miles SE of Blue Earth for many years. His hobbies included gardening and hunting. He was also a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. He is survived by his wife, Adelyn Pirsig of Blue Earth, daughter, Wanda (& husband Elmer) Knaack of St. James, daughter, Diane (& husband Bruce) Schmidt of Belle Plaine, daughter, Brenda (& husband Mark) Heier of Mankato, seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.Russell was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister-Evelyn Pirsig, infant brother-Ronald Pirsig and brothers-Roger, Harlan & Gerald Pirsig.
